Hi, John, I always enjoy your videos. Wish I could remember the first time I heard this song...I think I must have heard it on a Jackie Gleason show or some variety show. I also have it in my head that I may have heard Red Nichols do it...anyway....

Hi John, Thanks a lot for posting the BBC program on BG. I really enjoyed it. A couple of the recordings were new to me: the Red Norvo piece, and the live recordings of "Let's Dance" and "Hunkadola". Wonderful music! A reminder of what great play...

Hi, Bernie, I, too, found the Columbia/Legacy version of the 38 concert to be a vast improvement over previous editions. When I heard it, my reaction was the same as yours...Krupa's drums and the rest of the orchestra seemed to come alive. I list...

Hi, Michelle, Your love of music is obvious from your writings. Your memory of seeing Dizzy and wanting to touch his cheeks is beautiful. He was another of those amazing players who was able to be in that music stream, change its course...and inv...

Hi, Michelle, and Bruce, and Community, The point about motivation for performing music...or any other gift we have...is a good one, Michelle. Here's where I get hooked on what we are discussing. In many ways it gets very complicated...and the lo...

Thanks for the nice comments, David. Benny recorded That's a Plenty in 1928 with a trio which had Bob Conselman (I hope I have spelt his name correctly) on drums - hence we ope the show with it.
Keep swinging

Hey David,

Thanks for the kind words. He really is something, I don't think I've ever stumped him with any vintage drum questions I've had and in addition really is a great teacher. It also really convenient to have the services of such a pro so close to me, everything he has done for me, flawless.

Those drums shows are a rip snorting good time , I've got photos that I have posted on another forum but put a link to an album in my profile here. Hope you can make it sometime. I live about a block from the show itself so you can bank on me being there as well.

Michael
